NiSiのNDフィルター / NiSi's ND Filters

NiSiさんのご厚意で、Nikonの12-24mm用のフィルターホルダーとNDフィルターを使えることになった。

ご存じの通り、この12-24mmレンズは、前玉が大きく飛び出しているために、普通のねじ込み式フィルターを付けることができない。だから、ホルダーを装着して、そこにフィルターを挿入して使用することになる。

いただいたのは次の一式。

・AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED用 150mm Holder System
・AR ND 1000(3.0) 150x150mm
・Soft nano GND8(0.9) 150x170mm
・Reverse nano GND8(0.9) 150x170mm

導入初日は撮影の予定がなかったので、試しに家の窓からリバースグラデーションNDを使ってみた。このフィルターは日が沈む地平線を境に、下は透明、上は下から上に濃度が薄くなるフィルターで、地平線のを中心に透過する光の量を抑えてくれる。

１枚目はフィルターなし。空に露出を合わせると、地上は暗くブラックアウトしてしまう。

そして、２枚目はリバースグラデーションNDフィルター使ったもの。

フィルター効果はてきめんで、明るい空の光は抑えられ、暗い地上ははっきりと明るく写っている。

今回はとりえずテストだったので家の前（すみません）。今後もテストを続けて、夕焼けや朝焼けの風景写真を中心に活用していきたい。

ちなみにNiSiさんのフィルターは、近々、日本でも簡単に入手できるようになるそうだ。そうなったら、フィルターのバリエーションを増やしていきたい。

NiSi Filters kindly let me try out its ND filters for the AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, one of my go-to lenses for urban landscape photos.

As some of you may know, the lenses huge front lens prevents users to attach usual kind of filters. So, people need to get a specially designed filter holder, and insert large glass filters into it.

What I have received are these:

・150mm Holder System for theAF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED
・AR ND 1000(3.0) 150x150mm
・Soft nano GND8(0.9) 150x170mm
・Reverse nano GND8(0.9) 150x170mm

I didn't have any plans for shooting on the first day, so I just tried the Reverse Gradation ND filter to capture the sunset sky from my home window. This filter is transparent at the bottom half, and is gray in the middle which gradually becomes brighter to the top edge.

The first shot was taken without the filter, while the second one was shot with it. The effect is just outstanding as you can see the difference. FYI, both of the photos are SOOC, without any post-processing.

The filters will be easily available in Japan, the company says, so I'll introduce some more variations and use them for my landscape shots.
