新国立競技場と東京体育館 / The New National Stadium and the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium

１年半前に見たときはまだ更地だった。先日、首都高４号線を走っていて、巨大なスタジアムが立ち上がっているのを見た。この週末に近くを歩く機会があったから、その容姿をゆっくり眺めてきた。

I saw this place two years ago, it was empty. The old stadium had been torn down and nothing was there yet. When I drove on the Metropolitan Expressway's Route 4 the other day, I saw the new huge stadium was being constructed. And this weekend, I took a walk in the area, so I closely looked at the mega construction.

でかい。
It was really big.

ついでに横の敷地にある東京体育館も撮ってみた。考えてみたら今まで通り過ぎるばかりで、一度もよく見たことがなかった。調べてみたら、東京体育館は1990年に全面改築オープンとある。その前の姿も見ているはずだけれども、記憶にないな。

I spent some time to take photos of the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, which is located just across from the street. I often looked at this building but didn't bother to take time to look at it. It was one of the facilities used for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 and was reconstructed in 1990. I must have seen the previous building but I don't remember it.

雪の翌朝の記録 / The Morning after the Snow

大雪の翌朝。駅に向かうまで、朝日にきらめく…というか、やはりうっとうしさ満点の積もった雪を記録した。

最初の写真に写っているのは僕の車。こんなお菓子だったら食べてみたい。

…とちょっとだけ思った。

I had some time this morning, so I took photos of the snow left by the storm last night. The white dust looked beautiful in the morning sunlight. I wished it would soon go away though.

雪の日の記録 / Commemorative Photos in the Snowy Evening in Tokyo

４年ぶりの積雪量らしい。帰りの電車が最寄り一駅手前行きだったので、そのまま下車して一駅歩いて家に帰った。

久しぶりにニッコールの50mm f/1.4Gを載せてみたけれど、まあ、ピントが合わない。最近のレンズの方が夜は楽だなぁ。でも、雪でカメラもレンズもドロドロになるから、使いたいレンズはちょっと持ち出しづらい。

最初の構図 The First Composition

I took photos there for the first time in 2010. This is almost the same composition though the first one was taken in the late evening. I captured every angle of this bridge since then and am satisfied what I have had so far. So I only snap this view when I came close to it these days.

この場所を初めて撮ったのは2010年9月のこと。当時、写真共有サイトなどでは、このループはここからの構図しか見たことがなかった。

２度目に訪れたのは、その年の12月。夜、撮影をしていたら、近所に住んでいるというカナダ人が、僕に声をかけてきた。なんでも、東京に来たら景色が一番いい所に住みたいと思い、このループのすぐ近くに住んでいるという。

彼は僕に、「冒険しよう」と言った（本当は「冒険」という言葉は使っていないし、もっと長いやり取りがあったのだが、ウェブではいろいろ面倒だから説明しない）。

「ここは俺の庭だ」と豪語する彼は寒空の下、キンキンに冷えた缶ビールを僕にすすめてくれ、２人で並んで「王冠」の光を眺めた。僕はお礼に彼にタバコをすすめた。

彼は写真家ではなかった。あなたが声をかけてくれたおかげで、ここでいろいろな写真が撮れました。お礼を言ってこれまでに撮った写真を見せたいと思えど、彼に会ったはその時が最初で最後。彼は今、どうしているのだろう。

2017年最後の日に、そんなことを思い出しながら記念の写真。
