写真展「天空の渚 野町和嘉」

東京・竹芝にある「ギャラリー916」に行ってきた。倉庫のワンフロアを使ったギャラリーだから、とにかく壁が大きく天井が高い。そんな空間を存分に活用して開催されているのが、野町和嘉氏による「天空の渚」だ。

キャノンのEOS 5Dが5060万画がとらえたという、南米のウユニ湖やマゼラン海峡などの風景は、どれも２メートル級のサイズで超圧巻だ。

このギャラリーの展覧会は通常大人800円なのだが、この展覧会に限ってはキヤノンマーケティングジャパンが「5Dシリーズ10周年」ということで企画しているため入場無料。必見。

ちなみに写真家・野町氏の最新写真集「極限高地」は、ナショナルジオグラフィックから発売になったときから、amazonのカートに鎮座している。そろそろポチるかな。

I went to Gallery 916 in Takebashi. The place was originally a warehouse, so the ceiling is so high and the walls are so tall. The exhibition that is being held now was using the vast space fully.

Every photo exhibited at the event was captured by the Canon EOS 5Ds. The south-American landscapes captured by the 5060 megapixel camera were just overwhelming.

24-70mm f/2.8E、開放で近所を歩く

天気はいいけれども風が強く、撮りに行きたい風景を撮るのは無理そうな日曜日。AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VRを入手してから一度もやったことがなかったので、開放f/2.8限定で近所を歩いてみた。

使用したカメラ： Nikon D810
設定： 絞りf/2.8、ISOオート、ホワイトバランス4500K, M0.75

先代のf/2.8Gと比較すると、ボケは圧倒的にきれいになった。開放では合焦部に甘さが残る。f/2.8でポートレートを撮るなら、迷わず開放f/1.4の単焦点レンズを使う。そっちをf/2.8に絞った方がよい。

ただ、そうは言ってもズームは便利。迷わずその一本だけ持って出たらいい。手振れ防止機能が付いたのは特に便利。僕の場合は、夜の散歩に特に使いやすい。

……と言っておきながら、やはり重い。D810のボディと合わせて２キロというのは、僕が使っているダンベルと同じ重さ（笑）。両手に１つずつ持たないとバランスが悪い。

ちなみに投稿している写真はすべて、カメラの設定のままLightroomで書き出したもの。なぜかLightroomでは4700Kで取り込まれるのだが、面倒なのでそのままにしてある。また、RAWデータなので書き出す際に、若干シャープネスのみを調整している。

It was sunny in Tokyo on Sunday, but it was a little too windy. So I gave up the idea of going out to a waterfront area and walked around my neighborhood in the morning with AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, sticking with the wide-open aperture.

Settings: f/2.8. Auto-ISO, White balance: 4500K, M0.75

The bokeh it creates is much more beautiful that its predecessor provides. But with f/2.8, the focused area looks soft. So, I would take out my single focus lenses for portrait sessions.

Having said that, zoom lenses are convenient. I love the newly-added VR function to this lens. It works so well for me when I take a walk in the evening.

But ... it's so heavy. The combination of this lens and the D810 is about two kilograms. It is as heavy as the dumbbell I have at home! I need to carry two sets with my both hands or it's not well-balanced.

FYI, the photos here are all developed with the in-camera setting. I have no idea why they are in 4700K in Lightroom even though I captured all in 4500K. I thought about adjusting it but I didn't. I only tweaked the sharpness.
