Right Before I Took the Final Cut

A Woman Waiting

A friend of mine posted a photo on an SNS. The photo was taken during the event we had a couple of years ago, and I found out the event was held in Shinagawa, Tokyo by checking the date of the folders on my PC.

I selected one of the photos I took that day for the special site of the SIGMA 50mm f/1.4 Art lens. Then, that photo made it to my second solo exhibition last year.

The photo at the top of this entry was taken before I took the final cut. I was using a wide-angle lens and noticed the woman was standing in the middle of the frame. I muttered to myself, "Don't move. Please don't move." I exchanged the lenses to the 50 mm and succeeded in capturing the moment.

FYI, the second photo in this entry is the 2016 version of the photo. The finish is slightly different from the previous ones.

The Rainbow Bridge Is Bright

Tokyo Tower is the brightest subject in the evening, but Rainbow Bridge is also bright. So if you want to overexpose it, this is the proper exposure. Its surroundings look dark.

Of course, there are various methods to brighten up the background and the foreground, but I just want to present how it looked that evening. So I'm OK with the result. I love the result. And, in my opinion, the photo describes the atmosphere so well.

FYI, I went with Lighting Source Priority Auto for most of my photos. It captures the night lights differently from other cameras.

A Tragedy about My Instagram Page

When my friends and I talked about where we should take photos in Shibuya, Tokyo, one of them talked about a web page titled "The Top 10 Spots That Offer Beautiful Nightscapes in Shibuya." So I accessed the page to find the first spot introduced in the article was this terrace in Shibuya Hikarie. And there was a familiar-looking photo illustrating the article. I realized the photo was mine in no time. But the problem was that only one third of the left-hand side of the photo was used in it. Why only one-third? I reloaded the page a couple of times but all I was able to see was the one-third.

The truth was that the author had used one of the three posts on my Instagram page. I had cut this photo in three pieces and posted them as a triptych, and the author had picked up the first post. Why had he/she chosen the middle one? Anyway, there should have been a better one on the web than mine.
