These are the photos I took during the photo walk in Atami, Shizuoka in the first half of February. This is the second half of the walk following the last blog post.
I often go for a 35 or 50mm lens for a photo walk, so when I walk with an 85, it takes some time to get accustomed to the difference of the distances and angles.
Still there are some merits. The narrow angle of view offers so many possible compositions with one subject. And no distraction will be included in the frame, so I think it easily lets viewers' imagination run. Of course, these are my personal thoughts.
I captured the photo above on the way from Atami Ginza, a shopping street near the beach, to Atami station. I got off the main street and found this dead end alley. The place looks partly desolate and partly nostalgic. A young school boy would pop out from behind the house.
Hmm. The 85mm angle of view is actually inspiring.
Atami is full of slopes and stairs. |
The facade of the shopping mall near the station. It looked like there were more tourists. |
It was just the shadow of a railing. I like this kind of nothingness. |
Is it a wall or a drop-off? Or is a house? |
The remnant of the old days. |
What would I see on top of the stairs? |
A closed hotel. It says economy, but what was economy? I want to know it. |
The character we don't use any more. When was it written? |
Is the graffiti first, or the plant first? |
I spotted a slope over there. |
So I walked over and see how it looked. The pink house looked a bit out of place. |
No trespass. But apparently someone did. |
This one was not taken in Atami. I saw Mt. Fuji on the way home. It was incredibly cold out there and I spent only 10 seconds outside the car. |
