何もなくてもとりあえず歩く / Just taking a walk without any particular purpose

ヨドバシカメラで買いたいものがあった。用事を済ませた後、少しだけ新宿駅の西側を歩いた。別に何かを撮りたかったわけではない。でも、カメラを出せばシャッターを切る。歩いてシャッターを切る。軽いエクササイズのようだ。

I went to the Yodobashi Camera store in Shinjuku to buy a camera filter. After that,
I walked around in the west side of the Shinjuku station without any particular purpose. There's nothing I wanted to capture, but there still were things to capture. I just walk and click. It's like a fitness training.

金曜日、宵の新宿 / A Friday evening in Shinjuku

金曜日の新宿。友人たちと飲んだ。皆、カメラ好きの仲間だが、飲んだだけ。僕は早めに新宿に着いたから辺りを歩いて少しだけシャッターを切った。

It was a Friday evening in Shinjuku. I went out drinking with my friends. All of us loved photography, but we just drank and ate. I had arrived in Shinjuku a bit early so walked around and clicked the shutter.

人の痕跡が交わす会話 / Conversations of the traces people have left in town

東京の街はどこでもそうなのだが、多くの人の記憶がそこかしこに刷り込まれている。実際の生活では交わることがなかった人と人の、東京今昔物語。

People leave their traces here and there. They might not have been interact with one another in their real lives, but their traces often do. I'm curious to know what kind of conversation are those traces enjoying.

モードに続く坂

仕事場から新宿まで、裏道ばかりを歩いてみたときに出合った坂。できる限り急にしたけれど、最後に足りなくて階段で補った、というような坂。

後で写真を見返してみたら、この春に閉校したという「セツ・モード・セミナー」の建物が階段のところにあることに気がついた。

デザイナーズ・ブランドは好きだったけれど、そういえば、ここを卒業した川久保玲のコム・デ・ギャルソンとかヨウジ・ヤマモトは買ったことがない。

When I walked from Ichigaya to Shinjuku (the distance is about four kilometer), I encountered this steep slope. Was it not steep enough so they had to add the stairs at the end? I don't know.

I realized the sign saying "Setsu Mode Seminar" which was closed its door this spring. I loved designers' fashion but haven't bought any from Comme des Garcon or Yohji Yamamoto. Both of them are alumni of this fashion school.

きらめく光 / Colorful Lights in the Streets (東京・原宿 / Harajuku, Tokyo)

友人と原宿を散歩した。前回は途中で雨が降ってきてしまったから、この日はそのリベンジという感じだった。幸い、天気はよく、ゆっくりと散歩を楽しむことができた。

人が帰った後の遅い時間だから、店はほとんど閉まったあとで、その静かな雰囲気がたまらなくよい。そういえば、代官山を歩くのも好きだが、人がいなくなった夜の方がいい。

なんだろう。温泉街で、温泉にのんびりつかった後に、店が閉まった温泉街をそぞろ歩く感じ？　東京、東京と言っていても、結局、僕は人がないところばかり探している気がする。


I took a walk in Harajuku with a friend of mine. The last time we visited the area, it started to rain halfway. So it was like the part 2 of the walk. Luckily, it didn't rain that evening, so there don't have to be part 3.

It was late in the evening. Most people had gone home. The shops were closed. The atmosphere was really quiet. I like such atmosphere. I repeatedly say that I love Tokyo, but I'm always looking for places without people. It's a big contradiction ...

ガラスに何かの看板が写っていたので、撮ったあとで左右反転。「カッコよすぎ」って俺のことか。
I saw a neon sign reflected on the glass case, so I captured it and later inverted it. "Beyond Cool" should be about me, shouldn't it?

これが上の「Beyond Cool」を撮ったガラスの中。カラフルなおもちゃを一つ一つ眺めても楽しい世界時計だった。
This is what was inside the glass case. It was a colorful world clock consist of colorful toys.

「本物であれ」。ガラスに写って逆さまになっていたら、その意味は、さて？
When the "Stay Real" message is reflected on the glass, what does it really mean?

シャッターから顔を出す。
It was coming out under the shutter.

誰かの手の影…にしては指が多い。
It was a shadow of someone's hand ... with too many fingers.

自撮り…と思ったら僕はゴリラの何かみたいなのに変身途中に見えた。
I tried to capture myself but I was overlapped on a gorilla-like creature. Yes, I was transforming myself.

アルファベットが飛んできた。
Flying alphabet letters.

これ、前に昼間に撮った気がするな。そう、東京は僕のもの。「たぶんね」が気に入らないが。
I think I captured this before. Yes, Tokyo is mine. I don't like someone saying "Maybee."

Hola, Amigo!

タコ連呼。

静かに踊る光。
Lights were dancing quietly.

下の影はどっちに向かって伸びているか。エッシャーのだまし絵のように見えてきた。
In which way is the shadow reaching? It looked like an Escher's drawing.

あの光はパリから届く。そんな想像をしてみて。
I imagined those lights were coming from Paris.

光のシャンパン。おいしいよ、きっと。
A champagne of lights. Delicious. It must be.

本物はどれだ。
Which one is the real pole?

影、面白いよね。
I love such shadows on the wall.

こっちは分解された影。
Color-separated shadows.

無数の影。
Numerous shadows.

見られた！
It found me!

でも店は閉店してた。
But the store was already closed.

誰かの痕跡。
Someone had left his or her trace.

こっちにも。煙草の吸殻とセット。犯人を追え。
Another trace. Now the can was with a butt. Should we chase the suspect?

光のバネ付きシューズだよ。
Shoes with colorful springs on their soles. Would you buy ones?

悪党（The filth）のバイク。
So this bike must belong to the filth.

うちに帰ろう。だれか一緒にｗ
On their way home.
