My Interview Article on Ginza no Sukima project /

One of my project, Ginza no Skima, which means the Alleys in Ginza, was published on the Phoblographer, one of the popular photography websites. It's the first time I talked about this project officially. I'm happy about the article.

24mmで撮る銀座の隙間 / Capturing the Alleys i Ginza with a 24mm Lens

The last time I visited the alleys in Ginza area was last fall. I went there with the then-newly-bought AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR.

Last weekend, I had something to do near Ginza, so I visited the alleys, walking from Ginza 1-Chome to 7-Chome. And this time, I walked with a different lens. The lens I chose for the day was the SIGMA 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM, one of my favorite wide-angle lenses.

This lens doesn't have the anti-shake function like the 24-70 does. So I had to be very careful in the camera settings in the dark alleys. But once I set the camera settings right, everything looked beautiful through the lens. The edges of the buildings looked amazingly sharp. The light and shadow on the walls looked so real.

I posted such photos of the alleys on my portfolio website, Tokyo Photo Inspirations. If you have time, please visit the site and enjoyed the walk in the narrow alleys in Ginza. On this blog, I'll show you the other photos.

Now, let's go for a walk together.

The facade of this building looked interesting. I thought it would be nice if the material was so soft as a trampoline.

It was the moment I got out of an alley. The white wall and the blue letters were cute.

The weather was OK. I like the blue hue on the wall. I was in a bit wider alley.

A promotion display for the new movie, right?

One of my favorite buildings in Ginza. I want to skateboard on its wall.

The heaven of the air-conditioner outdoor units. I want to see more of them!

There used to be an old building packed with bars on the left hand side of this bar.

The alley was in the middle of the renovation. I hope it will be back again.

During the walk, I noticed some of the alleys had been closed off because because old buildings next to them had been demolished or were in the middle of  renovation. Are the owners getting ready for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games? Are those alleys gone forever, or coming back after the constructions are finished? I don't know. All I can do is just capture the moment.

SIGMA dp0 Quattroで谷町ジャンクションを撮る / Capturing Shuto Expressway with the SIGMA dp0 Quattro

We usually take a walk in the evening before we eat, but we ate first that night. We were all full. There was no hungry spirit in us, but I always had to take time in shooting photos when I use the dp0 because it had to be mounted on a tripod (You have to forget about any ISO settings other than 100.)

We walked from a restaurant in Roppingi, heading for Roppingi 1-chome where Shuto Expressway's Tanimachi Junction is located. There, I wanted to try the SIGMA dp0 Quattro that has the widest lens among the dp series.

We raced against Ferrari cars and won.
Ferrari shop across from the street.
I loved the dim lighting on the intersection.
Growing escalators at Izumi Garden.

One of my favorite way of looking up at the junction.

Another favorite spots. I like those legs.

I really like to see the "belly" of the expressway.

One of my favorite shots from the night.

Nakagin Capsule Tomer Building

The Capsule Tower Building is on the far right.

Tokyo Expressway connecting Shuto Expressways and Ginza was visible from the window. Yes, It is the only window.
I capture this from the entrance. Yes, the room is so small!

Another selfie :D

The address is Ginza, Tokyo. Nakagin Tower Capsule Building is located across from the modern high-rises in Shiodobe business district in Minato Ward. It was designed by Kisho Kurokawa and completed in 1972. A lot of architecture mania come and see this architecture from all over the world.

Its exterior reminds people of a stack of washing machines. I wanted wanted someone to take a photo of me staying behind the window but that didn't come true ...

Last Saturday, I had a chance to visit two of the units/rooms in this building. It's amazingly small but beautifully renovated. If I had a chance I would love to stay in the room for a week or so. There is no kitchen and I don't think I can stay there longer myself.

The reason I had a chance to look inside of the building is that a friend of mine had backed the crowdfunding which was for publishing a book about this building (It was very successful). Some of the backers had been invited to a small tour of the building, and luckily I was invited to join it by the friend.

The management association of this building has been long considering rebuilding it, so I'm not sure until when we will be continue to see this building. If you are interested in it, why not get a copy of the book (it will be published October 31, 2015) and learn about the historical architecture as a starter.

But I am interested in this woody wall.
The lighting is quite nice, isn't it?
