2) / A Trip to Meet the Elephant from the Train Window (Part 2)

I had something to do in Shinjuku, so after I finished it, I walked toward east. Then, I changed directions and headed to south to see a elephant-shaped play equipment in a small park. I often saw it from the train window.

And I finally saw it. The photo above was the souvenir shot I got.

I was carrying an instant film camera, Lomography Lomo'Instant with me that day. There was a reason I used this camera for the shot ...

I didn't see well from the train window, but it had lost part of its nose, and its eye was bleeding. It looked so sad, so I walked behind the elephant.

Even though taken from behind, it looked a bit sad. So, I took out the Lomo from my bag.

With the instant film, the atmosphere got blurred and now it looked better.

There was a male lion there too. It stared at me.
I left the park, walking further to the south. This is the bridge of the JR Chuo Line. I loved how it looked.
After passing Sendagaya Station, there was Tokyo Gymnasium. I'm sure they'll use this facility for the 2020 Olympic Games.
Looking back from the stairs to the gymnasium, I saw the open ground. That place used to be park. Also, the athletic stadium had been gone.
I passed the gymnasium and chose a narrow road. I found this pipes. It looked kind of, uh, organic.
The ceiling of the Sendagaya Tunnel. Cracks everywhere.
Why had the LAN cable been left at such a place?
The design of the stair case looked good.
The shadow was getting longer.
I don't ride this kind of bike. The tires were too narrow for the bumpy streets in Tokyo.
I saw this car before. Yes, I went into Shibuya, so I changed direction again to go back to Shinjuku.
I wanted to look inside of the residential building built in '70s, but I have to live in one of the apartments to do so.
I like such a design from my childhood.
I saw that girl before. Harajuku was very close.
Honda Design Studio
I took the narrow road right next to Honda Design Studio in Harajuku. That car was the first-generation Honda Civic. I had its miniature car.
I do understand why someone wanted to draw a face there. A friend of mine told me that he wanted to draw another face in the bottom half and make it a trump card.
The walk was over :)

I walked 10 kilometers! Phew!

A Trip to Meet the Elephant from the Train Window

I had something to do in Shinjuku. So after i finished it, I started to take a walk. There was no destination. I just walked to the east this time without thinking where to go. But at a certain point, I changed directions and headed to the south. I decided to see an elephant-shaped play equipment in a park I often saw from the train window.

The photo walk started from Kabukicho, but I felt uncomfortable with a huge DSLR. I didn't take many photos and passed the town :p
Somewhere in Kabukicho, Shinjuku.
People were getting ready for the summer festival.
The design was interesting, but I thought it would be better to have one ladder and one could make a horizontal move on each floor.
Shadows were playing in front of a university.
There were a lot of narrow alleys. The houses were rather new.
A Shadow was playing on a shop wall.
When I took a photo of flowers, it was a sign that I was getting bored.
I hated to get bored, so I continued shooting. This is the entrance of a big launderette. Of course, it was open 24 hours.
Shadow of the leaves were playing on a house wall.
What kind of books has this book bindery made?
I wish someone was passing by, but no one was on a narrow road.
Shadow of roses. I liked the vertical lines of the wall.
Flowers on the edge of a school ground. Every time someone was passing by, I tried to greet him/her when I was taking this photo because I didn't want to look suspicious.
It said one of the last samurais died here. He was a one of the key person who lived at the end of samurai-ruled period.
I found small leaves on the stairs of pedestrian bridge. I soon realized they were tiny ginkgo leaves. Wow.
It was the first time I had seen Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden from outside of the main entrance.

It was good to see the elephant but I found out a sad thing about it. The blog entry is getting long, so I'll tell you about it in the next time!

I wanted to do some experiment at the riverside of Tama River that day in the late afternoon. I had some time until then, so I decided to visit Jiyugaoka, one of people's favorite shopping towns around here. ButWhy my hamburg steak? What the photo above shows is a house made with bread and sweets! You'll know the reason during the walk in the town. So come with me.

By the way, I often walk with the Nikon's 24-70mm zoom lens these days. It's focus is so accurate and fast. I'm satisfied with its image quality. Also, it covers the angles of three different prime lenses. I still go with Sigma's prime lenses for portrait shooting, but when taking a walk, I want to reduce the weight of my gear.

Having said that, the weight of the camera and lens is almost two kilograms. So just you and me, I train my arms with Two-kilogram dumbbells every day.

Whenever I saw barbed wires, I remember I cut my leg severely when I was a small child. Twice.
I haven't seen the real Eiffel Tower for over 20 years.
The synchronized ladder and lattice.
I'm excited to find this restaurant. Its name is "My hamburg steak - Yamamoto". The steaks they serve are all mine!
It may not be meaningless to you, but it's meaningful to me.
I saw a house made of bread and sweets. They are real. I didn't have a chance to try it though.
A round faces.
I wanted to stop by a toilet in Jiyugaoka Department shopping building. I didn't spend money at all there. Sorry.
Dog with ... What?
Thanks for enjoying the walk. Here are the white flowers for you.
