ルミヌードルを使って夜の原宿で撮る / Using the Luminoodle LED light in Harajuku in the evening

I went to Harajuku in the evening and take some photos with a help from a friend of mine. I had bought a Luminoodle, which is a kind of LED light. I just thought it would be interesting to use it as a lighting source when shooting in the evening.

The Luminoodle is like a rope with three magnets on it, so you can attach it easily on a pole of a traffic sign or a shutter in front of a closed shop. I can also hang on my shoulder if needed.

友人に手伝ってもらって夜の原宿で写真を撮ってきた。「ルミヌードル」という名前のロープ型LEDランプを購入したので、夜の街で写真を撮るときに、補助的な光として添えたら面白いのではと思ったのだ。

ルミヌードルにはスライドできるマグネットが３つ付いていて、道路標識や閉店した店のシャッターなどに簡単に取り付けられる。ループ状にもできるから、必要があれば自分の肩に垂らして使うこともできる。

In the photo above, the Luminoodle was attached to the pole in the foreground. It's like a rope so you won't see it once you attach it on the other side of the pole.

上の写真でルミヌードルは前景に写っているポールの向こう側に取り付けている。ロープのように細長いから、向こう側に取り付けてしまえばランプ本体が見えることはない。

The lamp comes with a translucent bag. you can turn on the lamp in the bag on a situation like camping. The bag contains a lamp, a remote control, and three Velcro bands. Each band has a metal buckle. It can be wound around non-metal object so that the Luminoodle can be attached.

ランプは半透明の袋に入ってくる。これに入れたままライトを点灯すれば、ランタンのように使うこともできる。袋に入っているのは本体とリモコン。金属以外の場所に取り付ける際に使う金属バックル付きのベルクロバンド。

There's no room for batteries in the Luminoodle. To use it, you need to insert one end to a USB port of an external battery. With the remote control, you can change brightness and colors. You can even select the strobe mode, colors shift mode and some more, but I'm afraid there won't be many occasions where you need those modes ...

ルミヌードルはバッテリーを内蔵していないから、使うときには片方の端を外部バッテリーのUSBポートに差し込んでおかないといけない。リモコンで明るさや色を変えることができる。光が点滅するモードや色が変化するモードなどもあるけれど、そんなモードが必要になることはほぼないと思う。

The streets in Tokyo are rather bright even in the late evening, so you don't need add lighting all the time. For example, I shot the photos below with available lights in the streets. Still, the Luminoodle is so light, so I like to carry it in my bag when I go out shooting photos in the evening.

東京の街は夜遅くでも明るいから、いつも光を足す必要があるわけではない。例えば下の写真は、街灯りだけで撮った。それでも、ルミヌードルはとても軽いから、夜、写真を撮りに行くときは、いつもかばんに入れておきたいと思う。
