They Are Just Rocks

They are just rocks.

If I remember correctly, our family took a portrait in front of these rocks.

So they are not just rocks.

Triptych on Instagram

Since I had seen some people on Instagram doing triptych, I decided to do the same thing myself. To do this, I create 3:1 aspect ratio images and divide them into three square images. I number and post them in order. When people see those three images on my tiled profile page, they look like one panoramic image.

Doing this is fun. I visit my own profile page and enjoy how those three images look. Some people figure out what I do, while others don't. I can tell it from how they "liked" the three images.

There are two problems in doing this triptych thing. One of them is that I can't share the three images as one on other social-networking services. So here, I stitched the three images back into one to show you the entire view ...

Another problem is that I have to keep posting three images at the same time. If I don't, the panoramic view will collapse. When can I stop doing this? Shouldn't I think of doing this in the first place? I don't know ...

FYI, you can search #triptych and find people doing the same kind of things.

Walking in the Rainy Aizu-Wakamatsu Cityin Fukushima

The destination of our trip to Fukushima was Aizu-Bandai, and we hadn't planned to visit Aizu-Wakamatsu. But it was raining all day on the first day of the trip, and we didn't feel like walking in the nature in Bandai area. So we decided to take a walk in Aizu-Wakamatsu, one of the large cities in Fukushima.

The expression of Hideyo Noguchi, a falous bacteriologist looks sad to me because of the bad weather.
The place Hideyo Noguchi spent when he way young.
I like this kind of details of the old stuff. This must be a scale.
I liked the old texture of the glass.
I know this kind of things are everywhere, but ... I can't help but capture it.
Tobacco and Kao Soaps. I love old-style letters.
The place where Hideyo fell in love for the first time!

There were a couple of things we wanted to do in the city. The first one was shopping. We visited a store called "Kobo Suzuran"where a young female artist creates tableware which combines glass and urushi. The latter is a traditional lacquer which has been used for Japanese traditional tableware. The glasses and dishes she creates are so lovely, and I couldn't help buy one myself!

I bought two of them. Lovely glasses with the combination of modern and traditional elements.

We also visited a historical sake brewery which is run by a family of one of my supervisors at the company.

My supervisor's family runs a sake brewery in this town!

When we were going back to my car, we saw the sun coming out of the rain clouds!

Love this kind of moment!
I seldom see my shadow with an umbrella in my hand!
I saw a rainbow!
I ran to the open space!
The green after the rain was soooo nice!
It was wearing a hear accessory :)
I didn't know what it was at the time, but later, I figured it out the design had come from a traditional okiagari koboshi in Aizu.
At a glance, I thought Harakuju was also in Aizu! But it was not.
The cat didn't let me get closer to it than that ...

I already wrote on other SNSs that I saw rainbows for two days in a row. The weather was not perfect during our stay in Fukushima, but we enjoyed it a lot. I really like to visit there again at the time when we see the gorgeous autumn colors.

An Evening Photowalk with a Beautiful Artist

An Artist and Lilies

These were photos from the evening photowalk in Shimokitazawa Tokyo, again. Yes, again. I walked there last week, and again this week. I can walk around and take photos countless times.

Rainbow Bridge

f/9, 60 secs., ISO 100, NiSi AR ND 1000, AR ND 8

f/9, 1/250 sec., ISO 100 without filters

Dark clouds had covered the sky when I went out., but when I reached Rainbow Bridge, summer clouds are running across the clear and blue sky. This time I used NiSi's two square filters together: AR ND 1000 and AR ND 8.

I tried 30-second exposure (ISO 200), 60 seconds (ISO 100) and 90 seconds (ISO 64), and the above is the 60-sec version. I went with f/9 for all the shots.

Shimokita 35 (August 26, 2015)

The last time I took a walk in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, I was thinking the lens I was using a 35mm but actually the lens on the camera was a 50mm. I realized the fact after I finished walking. So, this time, I checked the lens before I started to walk. Yes, it was the 35mm lens.

The original plan that night was that I would take a photo walk with different people. The event was rescheduled, so I invited some other friends. The drizzle was on and off. The streets were wet and the town looked even lovelier.
